Barb was born and raised in and around NYC and spent a lot of time in New England growing up, skiing across Vermont and in summer camp in the Berkshires. As the youngest of three children by about seven years,  Barb had the opportunity to travel the world with her parents, who loved exploring parts of the globe off the beaten path.

While attending George Washington University, Barb worked part-time in a record store, where she nurtured her love for music and the local music scene. Though she graduated with a degree in political science, Barb continued working in music-aligned companies and her career goals shifted to the music industry. As an executive in digital music and entertainment marketing and live event production, Barb worked for nationally recognized brands such as SPIN, Billboard, and The Hollywood Reporter, collaborating with renowned musicians and leading international corporations.

A few years back, Barb committed to making an intentional career shift to a service-oriented and mission-based role. Barb’s introduction to adventure therapy and then to Summit Achievement grew from her personal family journey and a loved one’s struggles with mental health and substance use.  With experience as an admissions counselor and marketing professional for several wilderness therapy programs, Barb remains committed to serving families facing these challenges. As part of the leadership team at Summit, the Marketing Director is dedicated to building trusting relationships with referral partners and families through conference attendance, social media & other digital content and maintaining meaningful connections through in-person meetings and networking in the healing community.

Barb lives in Brooklyn, NY, with her husband and three cats. She is passionate about staying active and recently rekindled her yoga practice as she strives to be more present and cultivate mindfulness. Music is still integral to her life, and Barb enjoys listening to various genres and discovering new artists. Despite her urban setting, Barb loves to spend time in nature, exploring the local parks, beaches, and hiking trails, as well as urban exploration of the cultural offerings of her native NYC with her young adult son who lives nearby.
