Hiring Now: Clinical Therapist

Who are Clinical Therapists at Summit?

Being a therapist in our dynamic continuum of care might be one of the most rewarding, rich environments from which to help adolescents grow and change.

While therapists at Summit work in an individual, office-type setting and conduct individual, group and family therapy sessions (with beautiful views of the mountains), they also get to work with a treatment team that includes guides staff, teachers, and medical staff.  As a clinician you get to experience your client out in the field, in the classroom and in our small, boarding school-like community.  It is a place where your adolescent client cannot hide what is really going on and provides rich opportunities for clinical growth in a short amount of time.

Our clinical team works collaboratively on all cases, with a minimum of two hours of group supervision per week, and one hour of individual supervision.

This position also provides opportunities to get out in the field overnight approximately once per month.

People who end up in this position tend to stay for many years!

Who Should Apply:

Interest– We are looking for a therapist that is skilled at connecting with adolescents, experienced enough to engage with difficult families, and open to learning and growing in a collaborative environment.  Interested applicants should also be eager to teach and support our direct care staff and be excited to engage in a dynamic teaching community.

Education–  Master’s Degree in social work, psychology or equivalent required.  Must be eligible for a LMSW-cc, LCSW or LCPC in the state of Maine.

Experience– Those applying should have experience working with adolescents and families.  Previous experience as a wilderness guide or residential staff preferred.  Experience with therapeutic educational consultants preferred.

Abilities– Therapists at Summit need to have excellent interpersonal skills, patience, and should possess a strong desire to work professionally with adolescents and young adults. Preferred strong group facilitation skills, written and oral communication skills, and flexibility in delivery of services.
