Don’t Miss Summit Achievement at NE NATSAP ’23!

We are so pleased to once again be attending the Northeast NATSAP Conference in Newport, RI October 25th and 26th, 2023! The regional conference of NATSAP (National Association of Therapeutic Schools and Programs) is always a delightful conference, filled with colleagues from near (and far!), connections old and new, and of course productive and educational breakout sessions on relevant topics to our field.

This year, Summit is proud to announce that members of our team will be involved with multiple of the conference’s presentations. Getting a presentation proposal accepted to the conference is a rigorous process and in many ways it is an achievement just to be accepted.

Kayleigh Higginbottom, LCSW, one of Summit’s primary therapists will be presenting as part of a panel on Thursday morning. The presentation is titled “Healing the Epidemic: Different Approaches to Anxiety Treatment Across the Continuum of Care.” Kayleigh will speak to the unique ways in which Summit Achievement and Summit Traverse work with students struggling with Anxiety. Among other things, she will focus on Adventure Therapy and the inclusion of Academics.

On Thursday afternoon, Mike DeLuca, LCSW and Doug Dobkowski, M.Ed, will present alongside The Bertram Group’s Kristen Naspo. Their presentation is called “Staying On Track: How Academics Can Be Part Of The Treatment Plan.” This presentation will layout the importance of Academics being included in residential treatment, including the therapeutic benefits of Academics being part of the treatment plan.

Presenting at conferences like NATSAP is an incredible way for our program to stay connected to the field. In a time when many programs and schools are struggling to keep their doors open, we are proud and happy to be able to engage in conversation and continue to strive to be the most effective program we can be for our students and their families.
