How It Works
Alumni students join a current Venture or Traverse group and work with their former therapist whenever possible. Stays typically range from 7 to 21 days, and students participate fully in the program while using alumni growth logs to track their progress.
Together with their therapist, they’ll set treatment goals for the visit and receive a clinical discharge summary at the end. While alumni don’t participate in the academic curriculum, they design a meaningful project to work on during school hours.
Is This Right for Your Student?
The Alumni Program works best for students who:
- Are ready to model positive growth and engage authentically with the current community
- Want to deepen their skills and reconnect with the work they began at Summit
- Will bring a supportive, constructive presence to the group
This program may not be the right fit for students who:
- Are currently navigating significant struggles or setbacks
- Had a challenging experience during their original enrollment and may not benefit from returning
- Would not be a good match for the current student population
If you’re considering the Alumni Program and want to discuss whether it’s the right step for your family, please contact our Admissions team.
Preparing for Life After Summit
Summit graduation marks an important milestone, and we work to ensure students leave with the academic foundation and self-awareness they need to succeed. Throughout their time at Summit, each student builds an academic portfolio that includes:
- Individualized learning style assessment report
- Daily and weekly academic checklists to support organization and executive functioning
- Weekly goals for coursework, class performance, and study skills set collaboratively with an academic advisor
- Weekly academic reflection assignments
- Daily coursework progress logs
This portfolio, along with the student’s grade report, lesson progress outlines, and transcript, provides a clear record of the academic work completed at Summit.
If a student doesn’t complete their courses during their stay, the work can be finished at home or at their next educational setting. Some students choose to extend their time at Summit to complete the coursework they started.
