Shannon: Your Guide From Day One

It’s important that you can put a face to the kind voice you’ll hear over the phone as she guides you through the admissions process. Shannon has been working with families in your situation for over 20 years, and we are confident that you will feel supported and validated during this challenging time.

Shannon received her Bachelor’s degree from Appalachian State University and went on to work in a variety of settings including adventure guiding, adventure therapy, therapeutic boarding, and residential treatment. Prior to joining Summit Achievement, Shannon facilitated admissions for a therapeutic program working with adolescent boys and a residential treatment facility for young adult women.

Shannon loves the outdoors and associated adventure sports, and enjoys sharing these experiences with friends and family. Some of her favorite hobbies include hiking, camping, trail running, skiing, snowboarding, kayaking, traveling with her family, and watching her daughter play sports.

Questions We Hear Most

What types of students does Summit serve?

Summit Achievement works with adolescents ages 13-19 navigating anxiety, depression, ADHD, and other neurodivergent profiles. Our students are willing participants in their treatment and ready to engage in the therapeutic process.

Can we visit during the program?

Yes. Family visits are an important part of our model and are scheduled in coordination with your student’s treatment team.

How long is the program?

Most families spend 6-10 weeks in Venture and 2-6 months in Traverse (if they do Traverse), though the length of stay is individualized based on clinical progress and family needs.

What if my child needs a higher level of care?

Our admissions team will help you determine whether Summit is the right fit. If a different level of care is needed, we can provide guidance and referrals to appropriate resources.
